PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Miao was established in 2004 and initially functioned from a temporary building, offering classes from I to X. In 2021, the Vidyalaya shifted to its own newly constructed building at Upper Colony, near the Helipad, Miao, Changlang District, Arunachal Pradesh, approximately 2 km from Miao Bus Stand.
The Vidyalaya is a single-section school. Class XI (Science) was introduced in 2021, followed by the Commerce stream in 2024, providing students with wider opportunities for senior secondary education.
Since 2023, the Vidyalaya has been functioning under the PM SHRI scheme, with a focus on the holistic development of students. The school has introduced a Skill and Innovation Centre for vocational education and skill-based training, along with a Gaming Zone to promote creativity, innovation, experiential learning, and 21st-century skills among students.
